Bridgwater Amateur Swimming Club runs the Bridgwater Swimming Academy from Polden Bower School on a Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday afternoon as well as Saturday mornings. Classes cater for children aged from as young as 12 months, including non-swimmers, beginners, improvers, and advanced swimmers. The swim school is small and intimate, and spaces are limited.
Bridgwater Swimming Club also supports the learn to swim programmes at 1610 Trinity Sports and Leisure.
The classes are at Polden Bower School and are primarily aimed at swimmers aged 4-8 years although we will seek to accommodate older swimmers up to age 14. Swimmers aged over 14 are advised to contact 1610 and enrole into adult learn to swim programmes.
Classes are held at various times on each day depending on ability.
Our swimming academy is very small so we can give the best possible support to each individual swimmer as they learn this vital skill.
The cost varies depending on the type of lesson with prices starting from £30 per month. There will be 4 weeks each year when there are no classes running and the monthly cost has been calculated to take that into account. A Bridgwater Amateur Swimming Club membership (which includes membership of Swim England) is required for each swimmer on joining, this then renews every January when the next years fee is due. The benefits of being both a Bridgwater club and a Swim England member are…Club social events, Club competitions, Swim England insurance, Swim England member competitions, discounts, offers etc.
As swimmers are part of Bridgwater Amateur Swimming Club, progression is available into the various squads within the club swimming at 1610 Trinity Sports & Leisure and Quantock Lodge as a swimmers ability level grows. The club now offers swimming progression from learning to swim right up to top level competing at national level.
